Two very different weddings, one stretch of coastline

Most couples we work with hit the same fork in the road early on: do we want a grown-ups-only celebration, or one where our nieces and nephews are in the photos? The Lomas Hospitality family is one of the few places you don't have to choose in the abstract, because El Dorado and Generations sit on the same coastline with the same wedding teams behind them.

This replay walks through both sides so you can see them next to each other rather than piecing it together from two different websites. We go through the Riviera Maya Wedding Packages available at each property, what's included, and what changes once your group grows.

What We Covered

El Dorado Riviera Maya: Adults-Only

Recap of the El Dorado properties featured, the ceremony venues, and the overall feel of the resorts.

A Generations Riviera Maya Wedding: Family-Friendly

Recap of Generations, the suite layouts, and what makes it work for a group travelling with children.

Riviera Maya Wedding Packages and What's Included

The Riviera Maya Wedding Packages across both brands share a common structure, with differences in venue options and guest count.

Recap of the packages covered, what's built in, and what's an add-on.

Romance Perks and Group Benefits

Recap of the perks discussed, including anything tied to group size or room nights.

Questions Couples Asked

Several questions came up during the live session. Here are two that tend to matter most to couples at this stage of planning.

Can we bring in our own photographer, DJ, or officiant from home, and are there fees?

Outside vendors are welcome. If your vendor stays on site for a minimum of three consecutive nights, the vendor fee is waived. This is one of the more flexible policies we come across, and it's worth knowing early if you already have someone at home you want to bring along. Factor those three nights into your vendor's quote when you're comparing costs. It often still works out cheaper than the fee.

What are the options for a late-night party, and when does the music have to stop?

There's an on-site disco open until 1 a.m., and your group is welcome to carry the celebration there alongside other resort guests. It's a practical answer to a common problem: receptions at many resorts wind down earlier than couples expect, and having somewhere to continue the night without booking a separate private event saves both money and an awkward end to the evening.

Is This the Right Fit for Your Wedding?

El Dorado Riviera Maya suits couples who want a quieter, more polished celebration and whose guest list skews adult. A Generations Riviera Maya Wedding suits couples whose group includes families and who want everyone in one place without the day feeling like a kids' resort.

Both sit on the Riviera Maya, which keeps flights straightforward from most Canadian cities and makes it easy for guests to extend the trip into a holiday.

If you're still weighing this against other resorts, that's exactly what our spotlight series is for. Every session is recorded, so you can work through them at your own pace.
