Cancun is the easiest place in Mexico to bring a large wedding group: direct flights from across Canada, a short airport transfer, and resorts built for celebrations. Just north of the Hotel Zone, Playa Mujeres has become one of our most requested areas. It is quieter and more exclusive, with wide beaches, calmer water, and newer adults-only and family-friendly resorts sitting side by side, which makes it ideal for weddings with guests of all ages.
Best for: Larger guest lists, first-time destination wedding couples, mixed adults-only and family groups.
Stretching south from Cancun past Playa del Carmen to Tulum, the Riviera Maya is the classic Mexico destination wedding. Think jungle backdrops, cenotes, white-sand beaches, and resorts ranging from lively and social to intimate and boutique. Most are 45 to 90 minutes from the Cancun airport.

The Pearl of the Pacific blends beautiful beaches with a colourful historic centre and a lively boardwalk. It is a great-value option with a strong local personality, and less crowded than the bigger resort areas.
Best for: Budget-conscious groups, couples who want an authentic Mexican town experience, and direct flights from Alberta in winter.
Nine bays, calm water, and an eco-focused, low-rise feel on Oaxaca's coast. Huatulco is the quiet, off-the-beaten-path choice, with a handful of excellent resorts and some of the most private beaches in Mexico.
Best for: Couples who want privacy and natural beauty over nightlife, smaller weddings, and honeymoons.
Two towns, one destination: Ixtapa is the purpose-built resort strip, Zihuatanejo the historic fishing village next door. Together they offer a relaxed Pacific wedding with good value and easy access to both a resort experience and an authentic town.
